What to bring?

Participants must be experienced motorcycle riders.

The participants has to wear complete motorcycle protective clothing:

Textile with protectors (elbow, shoulder, back, hips and knees, alternatively knee pads) or leather suit.

Motorcycle helmet (undamaged!), Gloves and motorbike boots right up to the ankles and flexible! Enduro and motocross boots protect, but are very stiff and hinder the feel of the foot brake and motorcycle. Racing boots with ankle, foot and joint protection are better suited than cheap touring boots that only protect against wetness.

If you have a choice of rider protection clothing (for example summer or winter) I personally would choose the summer protective clothing as the summer clothing normally allows you to move more freely around the bike and allows you to feel the controls on the bikes such as clutch, gear shifter and brake levers while at the same time offering you protection

If you have motocross or trials riding gloves please feel free to wear them, but you must accept that in the risk of falling that there is not much protection in these type gloves, however we will not be performing high speed wheelies.

Only drivers with proper protective clothing are allowed to participate in the Wheelie School.

Bring rain gear in case of showers.

Bring a packed lunch if you wish, however light snacks, fruit, tea, coffee and water provided on the day.

FAQ

(Frequently asked question):

Q1: How much riding time do I get?

A1: Please click on the schedule section on my website as all this information is explained there.

Q2: What is the idea of the Wheelie Rig attached to the bike?

A2: You will ride a BMW G 310 R attached to a specially designed wheelie rig that allows you to feel comfortable and confident while you learn one of the most important parts of performing that perfect Wheelie (balance point) without the worry of the bike tipping back or falling to the side, that will allow you to concentrate on all the important techniques needed to perfect your wheelies.

Q3: Can I wear a half face helmet?

A3: No, You must wear full face road helmet.

Q4: What clothing do I need to wear on the day?

A4: Please go to the (Important information before booking) section of my website as all this information is in there, please remember if you have a choice of rider protection clothing (for example summer or winter) I personally would choose the summer protective clothing as the summer clothing normally allows you to move more freely around the bike and allows you to feel the controls on the bikes such as clutch, gear shifter and brake levers while at the same time offering you protection, if you have motocross or trials riding gloves please feel free to wear them but you must accept that in the risk of falling that there is not much protection in these type gloves, however we will not be performing high speed wheelies.

Q5: Are the bikes modified?

A5: The bikes are completely standard besides the engine crash cage and a wheelie bar / foot rail fitted to the rear sub frame, full MTC Exhaust System and Magura Handlebars, the reason that I don’t have the bikes heavily modified is that I want the customer to feel comfortable with the bike and get the feeling of wheeling a standard motorcycle as most likely the customer rides a non-modified bike and also after their experience at Mattie Griffin Wheelie School its most likely a non-modified bike that they will get back onto.

Q6: Do I use my own bike for the Wheelie School?

A6: No, I provide a fleet of BMW G 310 R’s fully fueled up and ready to go for you on the day.

Q7: Can I book for more than 1 person on my credit card?

A7: Yes you can book for as many people as you like provided the availability is there (remember I only take 6 people per morning or afternoon Wheelie School) after booking you will receive an email with a discount code for booking level 2, for the other people you have booked for I will need you to send on their details ( Name, Surname, email, phone number )

Q8: Can Wheelie School go ahead in bad weather conditions?

A8: We have run a Wheelie School in all types of weather so far however, in severe weather conditions Wheelie School may be postponed to a later date.

Q9: Can you guarantee I will be able to Wheelie by the end of the day?

A9: No, I can't guarantee that you will be able to wheelie by the end of the day. Success depends on many factors, and even though I believe that anyone can LEARN to Wheelie, the key is the LEARNING… Listening to my instructions and recommendations while implementing them with patience and trust. Make sure you are open to learning experience and that you listen carefully to my teaching points, as they are going to be made to help you progress as easy as possible. The current success rate is about 98 % of all participants.

Q10: Can I cancel my booking/get a refund?

A10: We DO NOT offer refunds under any circumstances.
