Mattie’s presence at events such as the Annual BMW Motorrad Days
Garmisch Partenkirchen, Goodwood Festival of Speed, and countless events
throughout the World have been warmly welcomed by his growing fan base.
The 39-year-old from Galway (Ireland) works hard to entertain his audiences,
training for two hours a day on his BMW F 800 R’s and BMW G 310 R developing
new moves and keeping up to scratch with his signature tricks. It’s a dream
job for Mattie, whose motorcycling career began at an early age – thanks to an
enthusiasm for trials riding and talent for mechanics.
Building and maintaining this bikes in his workshop is almost as enjoyable as
honing his stunt-riding skills and gave the young motorcyclist greater
confidence in his abilities. “I’ve been doing mechanic work since I was a very
young boy with my dad in his workshop and I have always enjoyed working
on motorcycles in particular. It can take months to complete the perfect
stunt bike, lots of parts have to be made especially for the bikes so you can’t
just pop down to your local DIY store, and it can take time to get over
teething problems in the beginning, and before you feel at one on your new
Stunt Bike.”
It didn’t take very long after he decided to start stunt riding, before he was
spotted by BMW Motorrad Manager Conor McRory at the Irish Motorbike
Show in Dublin in 2004. “Conor saw me perform and was pretty impressed by
my riding skills. From there, I carried out some demonstrations at numerous
BMW events on different BMW motorcycles and was introduced to the BMW
Motorrad team.”
Happily, Performing shows worldwide and hosting his very own personalized
Stunt & Wheelie School is a full-time profession for Mattie. Most of his week is

spent training, practicing, and preparing his BMW Motorcycles for shows and
his Stunt & Wheelie School
